  • Life Stories @ FCBCLA by Tedmond Dong (Part 2)
Two years ago, I noticed another change in my vision. While I was driving, I noticed that traffic lights far away would appear like three lights in a triangle. My annual appointment to see Gerry was coming up, so I didn’t bother to call him this time. As Gerry was looking into my eyes he ...

Life Stories @ FCBCLA by Tedmond Dong My story began 20 years ago, but it feels like a whole lot longer than that. I used to travel quite a bit for work. I was sitting in my cubicle in San Jose staring at the computer screen when I noticed something strange. As I looked at the ...

Life Stories @ FCBCLA by Jeff Quan Like many people, I didn’t grow up in a Christian home.  I did, however, have an opportunity to accept Jesus at a young age.  My journey with Christ began when my family went to my sister’s junior high school open house in 1976.  We ended up in her math class ...

Something I Would Not “Trade” Susie W. Chan   PART 2 of 2 As I mentioned, my kidneys suddenly failed. Kevin and I had an appointment with the organ transplant coordinator I think it was a couple days after I was admitted to the hospital. It never occurs to me that my siblings would not test to be a ...

  • Life Stories @ FCBCLA – Susie Chan (Part 1)
Something I Would Not “Trade” Susie W. Chan In December 1995, God blessed Susie with the miraculous gift of a kidney transplant from her older brother Joe. Soon afterward Susie wrote down her thoughts and experiences to possibly share with others. By sharing her words with you now upon the 3rd anniversary of her home going, I ...

As I reflect on the spiritual journey God has led me through these past five years, I am in awe of His goodness and faithfulness. I distinctly remember sitting in worship one Sunday morning when I felt God placing a burden in my heart for individuals in our church with special needs. I didn’t have ...

50 Things You Don’t Need to buy Newspapers made this list. “Subscriptions can cost several hundred dollars a year for daily delivery. Once the norm, this service has been rendered obsolete in the digital age. Newspaper websites post much content for free, as do TV news outlets.” This was not “news” to me because I worked ...

Knowing the One True God (Edited from the translation) The Tragic Outcome of Superstition I grew up in a family that was very superstitious to the point where mom and grandma lost their judgment and common sense. When we were young and got sick, we sought the healing powers of the village sorcerer instead of doctors. One time, ...

Role Models This past year, several individuals whom I consider as pillars of our church have gone home to be with the Lord. They were influential and good role models in my life as they exemplified a life-long commitment to God, His people, and His house. Here’s a little known fact. I am the third child born ...

Life Stories @ FCBCLA by Nelson Kuan   When I first joined, Youth Choir didn’t seem like anything out of the ordinary. It seemed to be nothing more than a group of youth who sing. That’s essentially what most choirs are. However, FCBC’s Youth Choir is a family that isn’t just about the songs, but also a ...

Jesus is the Bridge I grew up in a very traditional Chinese family. My father was always out on business trips. My childhood memories of my father are very minimal. As a traditional father, he was not good at expressing his thoughts or feelings. His way of expressing love and care for the family was only ...

WALKING THROUGH FIRE   Whenever Jeannette Choi visited the sick and hurting, she frequently encouraged them with words from Isaiah 43:2-3, “When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. For I am the LORD your God…” These words became reality when she was faced with her own trial by ...

A MOTHER’S STORY … continued The admitting doctor told Keenan that he was in danger of having permanent liver damage if he continued taking drugs. If Keenan’s liver failed, he wouldn’t be able to have a liver transplant because of his drug history. I spent many hours with Keenan during his 3-night stay in the hospital. I asked ...

A MOTHER’S STORY “Why God, why is this happening??” This was my first thought when my husband Randy and I discovered that our son Keenan was on drugs in the fall of 2012. Disappointed, upset and worried, I needed to understand what would drive our son to want to harm his body in this way. Although Keenan ...
