Update – December 8
The numbers are in! We donated 3600 pounds of food to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank during our recent Food Drive! Great job, church! Thank you, everyone, for your participation and support!
Though we ended up a little short of our goal, we were still able to bless many children, seniors, and families who struggle with hunger. The food that we donated to the LARFB will go to community distribution centers around LA county, where those in need will pick it up and be fed. These people are the reason behind the food drive. Whether we met the goal or not, may our hearts be more sensitive to those who are in need and how God may be calling us to care for them. Again, thank you, FCBCLA, for your generosity in donating all those cans, jars, and boxes of food. May you be blessed for your contributions and care! This fall, we are holding a church-wide food drive to fight hunger in Los Angeles County. There are about 10 million people in LA County. One in seven of them are struggling with food insecurity. They are not able to afford nutritious food and may not know where their next meal is coming from. Many of these are children and senior adults.
God calls us to give generously to those in need and to care for those around us (Matt. 25:37-40, 1 Tim. 6:17-18). The food drive is an opportunity for us to be sensitive to the needs of others and respond to God’s call to love others. Our church goal is to donate 4,000 pounds of food to the LA Regional Food Bank to support the hungry. Let’s bless others this holiday season and throughout the year!
